Sr.Claire LeBoeuf,CSC

Sister Claire Marie LeBoeuf, CSC, (Sister Mary Claire Anna) educator and child advocate, passed away on September 20, 2026, at the Holy Cross Health Center in Manchester, New Hampshire. She was born on November 3, 1942, in Nashua, New Hampshire to Eugene and Anna (Bibeau) LeBoeuf. Sr. Claire entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in  1960, pronouncing her final vows in 1967.

A bachelor's degree in business education from Notre Dame College and a master's degree in counseling education from Rivier College were foundational to her work as an educator. She began her ministry teaching throughout New England, from the 6th grade to the college level.

 Sister Claire dedicated her life to helping children. Her love for them inspired her to found not one, but three nonprofit organizations in Florida, helping foster children find forever homes and working to keep sibling groups together. She first founded New Life Dwelling Place (1984) where mothers with their children (in State custody), while addressing parenting skills, self- esteem, and life skills, could come to know and bond with each other. In 1993 she founded and directed Everyday Blessings, a residential group for the training and support of foster and adoptive families in their care of children languishing in foster care. The third organization she founded and directed was New Life Village, an intergenerational community, designed as a stable environment where foster, adoptive, and kinship families raising children impacted by trauma and the foster care system could find support.

Sister Claire's work and service was recognized throughout the country. In 2013 she received an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from St. Francis University, Loretto, PA. Sr. Claire epitomized the oft-quoted phrase "it takes a village to raise a child." Her legacy lives in the many children who finally "belonged."

Sister Claire is survived by her brother Raymond and her nephew Raymond, Jr., and nieces Michelle Salle and Mary Vaughn as well as grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, and her many cherished friends and colleagues, and her companions in life and ministry, the Sisters of Holy Cross.

A Remembrance and Prayer service for Sister Claire LeBoeuf is scheduled for Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 9 AM to 11:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on the same day. Both services will take place in the chapel of St. George Manor at 357 Island Pond Road in Manchester, NH.
