Rose Junior Rice

Dec 31, 1942 — Oct 17, 2026

Allenstown, NH

Rose Junior Rice, 83, of Allenstown, NH passed October 17, 2026 after a sudden period of declining health. Those closest also knew him as RJ or Pop.

Rose was Born in Insull, KY on December 31, 1942, to Rose and Susie (Ely) Rice.

He spent his early years growing up in Kentucky before spending the greatest part of his life living in Weare NH with his immediate family. Early in his adulthood he was proud to serve in the US Marines for 4 years prior to his honorable discharge in 1964. He went on to spend the next few decades as a telecommunication technician for a few different companies servicing many of the local municipality’s radios throughout the state of NH and ended his career working alongside his wife, Merry, where they successfully managed their own business for 10 years. When he retired, it was shortly after his one and only grandson Alex was born and this afforded him the opportunity to spend quality time with him which he cherished and created endless memories teaching him all the tricks of the trade that life offers, including showing him to drive at the age of 12! Or was it Alex teaching Pop? The end result, they created a bond that will last for eternity!

Throughout his life, Rose embraced life for all it had to offer with passion and joy. He cherished his time with his family, loved spending Saturday nights watching old black and white movies, but mostly, he loved reading any and all books where he would always share what he learned with each one. And when his eyesight worsened, he was introduced and fell in love with audiobooks. But those closest to him, knew what his true passion was and that was telling all of us stories of his past, the places he visited, the people he met and even at the young age of 83, it was amazing the stories he remembered and shared with all of us!!! #priceless and thank you pop for being one of a kind!

Rose was predeceased by his loving wife, Merry (Hanson) Rice in March of this year. He was also predeceased by sisters Juanita “Chick”, Martha “Lola” and Geneva “Rene”.

Family members include his son, Richard Rice and wife Hope of Allenstown; his grandson, Alexander Rice and wife Lyndsie and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Harper, and Hudson Rice, all of Lebanon, ME; his sister, Eathel of Tempe, AZ; his closest nieces Patti and Mona and the rest of the extended Rice Family.

Private burial with military honors will take place in the NH Veterans Cemetery at the family’s convenience.
