Ronald George Gauvin

Ronald George Gauvin, age 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 10, 2026, following a period of declining health. Born on November 23, 1945, in Woonsocket, RI, Ron was the beloved husband of Lyanne L. (Desrochers) Gauvin for 56 years, and the son of the late Laurent & Rose Alba (Bergeron) Gauvin. 

Ron was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire and worked as a bank examiner for the FDIC. He retired as a Field Office Supervisor after 27 years of dedicated public service, and then started a banking consultant business called Guiding Light Resources. Ron was a long-time resident of Hooksett, NH, and served as a member of the Hooksett Men's Club and the Hooksett Budget Committee. He earned his black belt in karate and sang with the choir at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church for many years.

Ron was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his four kids and joking around with his brothers. He was a proud Pépère to his grandchildren to whom he enjoyed giving tractor rides around the neighborhood. He also cherished his relationships with his extended family and friends. He never missed an opportunity to share his passions with others, including boating, sailing, and playing games like cribbage, bidwhist, backgammon and checkers. He enjoyed teaching others to play, but never let them win because they "had to earn it."

Ron was known for his collection of hats, funny socks, and fun ties. He enjoyed listening to country-western music, especially anything by Don Williams. He loved Chinese food, popcorn (the real kind), making and eating pierogies with the family, making toasted almonds for his guests, and eating the quintessential Frenchman’s pork pie (with ketchup). He was very proud of his French heritage and always expressed how lucky he felt to have his family and friends.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Lyanne, his four children and their spouses: Kiersten Hall and husband Bradford, Keith Gauvin and wife Robin, Kathryn Shipley and husband Christopher, Karalyn Gauvin and husband Ken MacIntosh. He had nine grandchildren: Aiden, Emma, Grace, Isabelle, Rory, Asher, Eleni, Daphne, and Maizy, and many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his three brothers: Roger (and his wife Jackie), Fernand, and Norbert Gauvin.

SERVICES – Burial will be private at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Manchester, NH. Please join us for a Celebration of Life that will take place as an open-house at 9 Mason Ave in Hooksett from 1pm - 5pm on August 29th. All are welcome.
