Michael A. Boroskas, 78, of Manchester, passed away on Tuesday, October, 27, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was born in Brockton, MA, on October 15, 1948 to the late Adam Boroskas and Susan (Yarmalavich). He served in the Navy and was part of the famed “Kiddie Cruise” enlisting at the age of 17. After serving 3 years in Bremerhaven, Germany, he returned home to attend UMASS, Amherst and to begin his long lived and long loved career in the culinary arts. While Michael worked at various places building his skills as a chef; New Hampshire College, now known as SNHU, was where he made his mark for nearly 40 years serving as their Executive Chef.
Michael, better known as “Chef”, could cook anything and everything with a command in the kitchen that was legendary to all that worked under or was taught by him. The kitchen is where Michael shined and could cook both chateaubriand for 2 or a fully catered dinner for 1500. It is also the place where he met Susan McLacken. The couples’ mutual love of food was only surpassed by their absolute adoration for each other and they soon formed a marriage built on that love.
Michael enjoyed spending time at home with Susan building up their garden or hosting one of their legendary Christmas parties. He could be found watching one of those episodes of Julia Child trying to perfect his bread recipe or sitting by the fireplace next to his dog Julia. Michael also enjoyed sharing his mutual love of music with his son Adam and they spent many hours listening to his extensive collection of music that ranged from Beethoven, Beatles to Bacharach and of course, Frank Sinatra. Family, Friends and Food were what were most important to Michael and he surrounded his well lived life with those things.
Michael is survived by his son Adam Boroskas, daughter Amy Wyman, sister Connie Grein, of Brockton MA, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
