John E. Anger

John E. Anger, affectionately known as “Big John”, has passed away peacefully at home. He was 69 years old.

He was born in Manchester NH in 1957 to Antoinette “Toni” (Michno) and Henry Anger and was raised by his mother Toni and his beloved step-father Robert Lambert since the age of two. He grew up surrounded by a large, loving family.

He cherished spending time with his family and was always ready with a story, a laugh, and especially a helping hand.

Aside from his family, among those closest to his heart were his faithful dogs Ruger and Leo, whose companionship brought him endless joy and comfort.

He attended St. Casimir School in Manchester and graduated from Merrimack High School in 1975.

John was a 6th degree blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do and led classes for many years.

In his life, John worked at Sears and Pepsi followed by many years as a driver at UPS, where he earned the respect and friendship of coworkers and customers through his dedication, dependability and strong work ethic. He took great pride in the relationships that he built throughout his career.

Outside of work, John had many passions. He found freedom and peace in what he referred to as “Wind Therapy” while riding his treasured Harley Davidson motorcycles. Whether cruising the backroads of New Hampshire or taking a longer ride through New England or other parts of the country, being on his motorcycle was where he felt most at home.

He had many very valued friends in the local biker community. He considered them his best friends and a part of his family. We know that they deeply share his loss as well.

John spent much time in the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and all of the simple pleasures that it had to offer.

He enjoyed going to concerts to see various artists, especially Tool.

He liked to cook and barbeque and would often host parties at his home for his family and friends.

He had plans to visit all 50 US states and he was able to make it to 45 of them, being particularly fond of Alaska and Hawaii.

He was a fan of UNH sports and of all of the local professional teams, but especially the New England Patriots.

He is survived by his sister Jayne Allard and her husband Richard of Dublin, and his sister Christine Demers and her husband Marc of Hooksett. He is also survived by his Aunt and Uncle Gerry and Mary Bolduc, his Aunt Anne Anger and by many cousins.

He adored and was very proud of his nieces and nephews; Chris Anger and his partner Katie, John C. Anger and his wife Athena, Michelle Beale and her husband Matthew, Allison Lambert and her husband Christopher, Michael McAllister and his wife Holly, Jennifer Smith and her husband Pierce, and all of his grandnieces and grandnephews.

He shared a special connection to his cousin John Michno and his spouse Joanna, whose friendship and family connection meant a great deal to him throughout his life.

He was predeceased by his parents, his twin sister, Mary and his brother, Richard.

“Big John” will be remembered for his larger-than-life presence, infectious sense of humor and the generosity that he showed to everyone he met. Despite what could be an imposing outward appearance, he was a big teddy bear at heart, especially with the generations of children in the family.

His legacy lives on through the many lives that he touched and the countless memories shared with family and friends.

Though our hearts are heavy with his loss, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit rides on, forever free, forever remembered and forever loved.

Services: Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Lambert Funeral Home and Crematory, 1799 Elm Street, Manchester from 11 to 1pm. A funeral service will begin promptly at 1pm in the Lambert Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow at St. Hedwig Cemetery, 71 Old Bedford Rd., Bedford.
