George Q. Munson Jr., 90, of Manchester NH, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
George Quinby Munson Jr. “Quin” was born in Glen Cove, NY, on June 27, 1936, to George Sr. and Mildred (Timmis). Quin was raised in Sea Cliff, NY. Before enlisting in the US Army, he attended Proctor Academy (high school) in NH. After his service, Quin attended Gordon College, in Wenham, MA, where he met “Jay” Judith Ann Munson (Yates) [1938-2005], with whom he raised a family and shared 45 years of marriage. He also earned a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry from C. W. Post College and went on to co-own and operate a successful clinical laboratory on Long Island, NY.
In 1989, Quin and Jay moved to NH, first settling in Bow and later in Bedford. Along with their son David, they established the home and garden center Bedford Fields. Their son George and daughter-in-law Ginger later joined them, and the family business remained an important part of their lives for 18 years.
Following Jay’s passing, Quin married Janet Munson (Pollack). Together, they enjoyed traveling in Europe and spending summers along the coast of Maine.
Quin loved sailing and fishing and treasured hunting seasons at his family farmhouse in Catskill, NY. He also loved flying, taking his family on many memorable flights along the New England coast.
Above all, Quin was devoted to his family and his Christian faith. He frequently shared Bible verses, words of encouragement, and wisdom. His faith, guidance, and love were enduring gifts to those close to him. He will be deeply missed, for the memories he created, the wisdom he shared, and the faith that guided his life. Quin lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Quin was predeceased by his first wife “Jay” Judith Ann Yates. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Janet Munson (Pollack); his three children, Portia Munson of Catskill, NY; George Q. Munson III and David Munson both of Bedford, NH; and seven grandchildren: Zur Handelsman; Freeda Handelsman; Grant Munson; Grace Munson; Burdick Munson; Margaret Munson and Andrew Munson.
May he rest in the peace and eternal promise of the Lord he loved and trusted throughout his life.
