George L. Montminy, Sr., 92, of Manchester, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 22, 1934 in Allenstown to the late Ovila and Anna (Grandmont) Montminy. 

George retired as a Lieutenant of the Manchester Fire Department and was the past President of the Alpine club, where he played a major role in their expansion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, playing pool and traveling, especially in his motor home.

George was always laughing. He loved putting a smile on people’s faces with his jokes and pulling pranks on his friends at the fire house. He will be missed by all that knew him. 

George is survived by his three children: Cheryl Montminy, Cathy Prince, and Christopher Montminy; his sister: Constance Gagnon; four grandchildren: Rhisa Dickson and her husband Jeff, Kelsey Prince and her husband Andrew Hall, and Chad Montminy and his fiance Mariah and Colby Montminy; three great grandchildren: Avery, Wes and Alice; and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years: Alice (Lachance) Montminy; his two children: John Montminy and George Montminy, Jr.; and many siblings. 

Services: Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Lambert Funeral Home, 1799 Elm St. in Manchester from 4pm to 6pm. A prayer service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 6pm. A committal service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum in Manchester at 11:30am.
