Doris L Edwards, lovingly known as “Dolly” 94, of Manchester, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at the Pleasant Valley nursing home after a long illness.
Dolly was born in Manchester on August 28, 1931, to Edmond and Jeanette (Hebert) L’esperance. She attended Saint Marie Grammar school and graduated from West high school in 1949 and was excited to be known as a “49er”.
In her teenage years she had a passion for roller skating and loved to go to Pine Island Park with her many friends! Dolly married Gordon Edwards in 1952. A lifelong resident of Manchester, Dolly‘s working career started at the Sullivan Cigar factory. She later worked at the Manchester Hosiery Mill and eventually retired from The Catholic Medical Center hospital, where she worked in their dietary department.
In her free time Dolly loved to read, going out to eat and doing puzzles. She loved the beach from her teenage years with her “gang” of friends to going to Florida in her later years with her husband. When she was in good health she loved to travel to Florida, Georgia, Michigan, and Oklahoma to visit her daughter Kathy and her family. She was a devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Dolly was very strong in her Catholic faith.
She is survived by her daughters Janet Palen and Kathy Mitchell and her spouse David Mitchell, three grandchildren Katie Armstrong and her spouse David, Chris Mitchell and his spouse Rachel and Kerry Oronos and spouse EJ, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Dolly was predeceased by her husband of 45 years Gordon, her son Danny, her parents Edmond and Jeannette L’Esperance, her sister Anita and her husband Roland Pinsonneault, her brother Roland and his wife Bertha L’Esperance.
SERVICES: Visitation will be on Monday, August 31, 2026 from 11am to 1pm at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm Street, Manchester. A prayer service will begin promptly at 1pm in the Lambert Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayers will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester.
In lieu of flowers donations in Doris’s name can be made to St. Jude
