Carl Lee Sipe, 93, died on October 1, 2026, at his home in Bedford, New Hampshire, with his wife, Sandy, and his beloved dog, Molly, by his side. Bedford had been his home for 49 years.
Carl was born on July 9, 1933, in Reading, Pennsylvania, to Raymond Sipe and Kathryn (Sailor) Sipe. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1961.
Carl built a long and successful career as an independent manufacturers' representative in the structural metals industry. He represented several major manufacturers, supplying the steel and structural materials used in buildings and other large projects. He established his own company, Carl L. Sipe Co. Much of his career was spent traveling, logging countless hours on the road and behind the wheel.
Perhaps it was fitting, then, that Carl never lost his love of a good car. At 92, he was still driving a red Jaguar. He also took pride in looking his best. Even at his final doctor's visit, Carl arrived in a freshly ironed button-down shirt and a nice pair of slacks. That was simply Carl.
For more than 45 years, twice a week, rain or shine, Carl drove to T-BONES to have a Coors Light, work on crossword puzzles, and spend time with his friends. When his daughter Tami reminded him to be careful driving home from the bar, Carl had a ready answer: "I am a professional."
Golf was a lifelong pleasure for Carl, beginning when he was young and continuing through many rounds played with his father, Raymond, his son in law, Skip, and his grandsons, as well as many friends. He also loved skiing and the New England Patriots. Skiing played a particularly important role in his life: it was how he met Sandy Rae (Beatty) Sipe. The two were married in June 1977, in front of the fireplace in the home where they would spend the next 48 years together.
Carl loved to cook, in no small part because he liked to eat exactly what he liked. He often exchanged recipes with his daughter Lisa. Seafood was a favorite, especially lobster. His grandchildren knew that a visit to Grandpa's house meant they could count on lobster for dinner at least one night.
He also loved gardening and the simple pleasure of sitting in his backyard under the pergola with a glass of wine and a cigar. In his younger years, Carl had a lake house, where summer weekends were spent entertaining and enjoying the company of friends. He liked good food, good company, and the pleasures of a life lived on his own terms.
Carl had a quick sense of humor that stayed with him throughout his life. Ask him how he was doing, and his answer was almost always the same: "Wonderful."
Carl is survived by his wife, Sandy Rae (Beatty) Sipe; his daughters, Tami Kammer and her husband, Lowrey Kammer, and Lisa Sipe; his grandchildren, Leonardo Cuellar and his wife, Jennifer, Christopher Cuellar and his wife, Ivon, and Erika Sipe; and his great-granddaughter, Anna Daniela Cuellar.
He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Kathryn Sipe, and his brother, Eugene Sipe.
Carl will be laid to rest at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, New Hampshire, on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at noon. A Celebration of Carl's life will follow the service at Alan's of Boscawen.
And, if you had asked Carl how he was doing through all 93 years of a life well lived, chances are you would have gotten the same answer:
"Wonderful."
